Using essential oils aromatically

This may be the most familiar way to use essential oils. Have you ever been to a spa and enchanted by the soothing and inviting aroma of Tea Tree and Eucalyptus oils wafting through the room?  You can now learn about the wonderful aromatic benefits of diffusing essential oils!

Diffusers are all different, but each comes with specific instructions.  Most diffusers you will fill with water to the water line indicated, add 4-8 drops of oil, turn it on, and enjoy the delightful aroma.  You can set the light setting desired or turn the light off for sleeping and still enjoy the benefits of diffusing essential oils. Don’t be afraid to mix oils up.  There are many diffuser recipes you can find on Pinterest or the internet.  Try this bedtime diffuser combination that promotes rest and relaxation:

  • 2 drops Frankincense
  • 3 drops Cedarwood
  • 4 drops Lavender

There are ways to enjoy the aroma of essential oils without a diffuser.  Try putting a few drops of citrus fresh on a cotton ball, and place it in a trash can, gym shoes or bag, or just anywhere a scent upgrade is needed. One of the easiest ways is to put a drop or two into the palms of your hands, rub them together, and then cup your hands together around your nose and mouth and breathe in the aroma as long as you need to.

It is always best to start low and go slow – don’t hyperventilate, and see how your body reacts. You can also simply open up the bottle and inhale right from the bottle. You’ll be amazed how these simple solutions work!
